Experiencing grace

Grace has many different meanings, but this is why I chose the title of my site.

Have you ever experienced more forgiveness and love than you feel you deserve in a relationship before? Have you ever wondered why anyone would choose to love you after the mistakes you’ve made?

I know I’m not the only one who has. However, it’s not through any relationship I have here on earth that’s given me hope for my future. It’s through God, our Father in Heaven, whom I’ve experienced the most forgiveness, love, and grace.

One morning I was driving to work and struggling to find joy or contentment in where I was at. I wasn’t truly happy with life after college and was still trying to find my purpose, as many recent college graduates do.

While listening to a playlist of worship music, which I had just recently started getting into, I heard a song that gave me such comfort and hope for my future – Defender, a cover by UPPERROOM.

The beginning hooked me with, “You go before I know that you’ve even gone to win my war. You come back with the head of my enemy. You come back and you call it my victory.”

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect me and comfort me. – Psalm 23:4

But it wasn’t until the chorus that I really started to notice my emotions swelling to the surface.

“Hallelujah, you have saved me, so much better your way. Hallelujah, great Defender, so much better your way.”

Often I think we forget that it’s okay to feel pain in your life because no matter what, God is fighting the battle for you. All you have to do is follow Him, love Him, worship Him and He will lead the way.

For some, maybe it’s not a God experience they have that helps put life into perspective for them – and that’s okay! But for me, it was. I felt God speak so clearly to me through the song in a moment of hurt that I knew I could have hope for my future.

It’s His never-ending love, His forgiveness and His grace where I’ve experienced the pure joy He can bring to you in life and it’s why I’ve decided to call this site Experiencing Grace.

Through God’s grace I get to live my life everyday, knowing that I’ll spend eternity in heaven with Him and that He’s forgiven me of my past. He longs for a genuine relationship with us, but we have to choose that path. Once we decide to pursue God our lives begin to take a turn for the better, whether we realize it or not – He has our back.

So I encourage you (if you’ve read this far) to find what gives you hope for your future. Dive deep into what it has to offer and if you’re still struggling to find purpose that’s okay too. However, know that you are loved and that your life has already touched many people around you – whether you realize it or not.

Three difference times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. – 2 Corinthians 12:8-9
